My life goes on in endless song
above earth's lamentations
I hear the real, though far-off hymn
that hails a new creation

 
나의 인생은 노래와 함께 끝없이 계속되며
지구의 한탄 위에 아득히 들리는
찬미의 소리를 들어요
그것은 새로운 창조의 소리예요

Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear it's music ringing
It sounds an echo in my soul
How can I keep from singing

모든 투쟁의 소란스러운 소리들이
나의 울려퍼지는 노래소리
내 영혼의 소리의 메아리를
어떻게 못하게 할 수 있겠어요

While though the tempest loudly roars
I hear the truth, it liveth
And though the darkness 'round me close
songs in the night it giveth

사나운 비바람이 큰소리를 치더라도
나의 그런 생활은 멈추지않아요
비록 둥근 암흑속에 내가 갇혔다해도
나는 그 밤 속에 노래를 불러줄거예요

No storm can shake my inmost calm
while to that rock I'm clinging
Since love is lord of heaven and earth
how can I keep from singing

어떤 폭풍도 내가 그 바위에
단단히 서있는 동안
나의 고요함을 흔들 수 없어요
하늘과 지구의 주인은 사랑인데
어떻게 내가 (사랑의 노래)를 부르는것을
못하게 할 수 있나요

   When tyrants tremble in their fear
   and hear their death knell ringing
   when friends rejoice both far and near
   how can I keep from singing

   언제나 폭군의 두려움에 떨며
   그들에게 죽음의 종소리가 들리는 중에도
   가까히 멀리서 기뻐하는 친구들이 있는데
   어떻게 내가 노래하는 것을 못하게 할 수 있나요

   In prison cell and dungeon vile
   our thoughts to them are winging
   when friends by shame are undefiled
   how can I keep from singing

 

   몹시 나쁜 토굴 감옥과 독방 속에 있는
   친구들에게 치욕 속에 더럽혀지지 않도록
   부르는 나의 노래를

            어떻게 못하게 할 수 있나요
